Departure

On the shoreline at Dusk

my friends gather,

Gentle words lift through

the evening air.

Their young son laughs and plays

on rocky water,

Bathed in orange sun

sailboats ease by.

Light wind breathes in warm

Then, Happiness.

  1. What a beautiful idyllic poem, Skylar. Was it a true moment? Or a collage of moments that paint a picture of idyll? Rivera

  2. It was a true moment. It was last “family dinner” with my neighbors about ten days ago before they moved to California. We all walked down to the ocean after eating…then the poem.
